Chalet La Maitreya is a place of peace. The place is all about honest, unpretentious authenticity and  will offer a space to breathe where one can enjoy nature in her pure unspoilt state.

Architecturally, the style has not progressed much beyond the traditional Oisans style, but La Maitreya has got a decor that seems spontaneous and ingenious.

Guests have dinner together at a huge table in the 500 years old converted cellar and the rooms range from a simple but stylish old farmers room to the spacious, old timber and wood-panelled top floor room.
They are all different, but the thing they have in common is a natural, unforced charm and the cosiness of a highly individual place.

One guest summed up the place with the characteristic Australian understatement: 'Pretty good lodge, mate!

"Excellent chalet in great location, with views across the valley.

Food was of a very high standard (canapes and a 3 course meal) and lots of it! Extremely high quality for a chalet holiday, better than most a la carte restaurants you will go to.

Very well looked after by our hosts Alice and Richard.

Spacious rooms all with private bathroom and even got a bathrobe to use, which was particularly useful for the sauna, which was great after a day on the slopes.

The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it is not an easy walk into the village of Vaujany, so the minibus (available whenever you want it though, driven by Richard) is required, so not ski in ski out.

This Chalet is highly recommended, amazing value!"

"We are a group of 14 friends, couples and singles. Sofar this is the best location and chalet we have found, and why?????? Everything is just perfect and we are all very picky. We love this house and the people who take care of us and the way they do this. We should not forget to talk about the food and wine...............excellent. Even with different chefs over the years, they keep surprising us. It is nice to wake up in the morning and enjoy the beautiful view from your balcony. The rooms are cosy and clean. The owners are expanding in other areas so we can explore new locations and enjoy the same perfectness as in Vaujany...........I would say go and try it." 26 Sep 11

    "Christmas skiing.

Stayed over Christmas 2010. A family of three, with a 4 year old. Found the chalet to be great, good hospitality and great food. Everyone was very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. would go back again."

"A perfect venue with charming hosts!

Our four night stay at Chalet Maitreya was everything we had hoped for. The exchange of information from the owner at short notice was very helpful, the chalet beautiful, the food excellent and the chalet hosts Richard and Alice incredibly welcoming and helpful.
From the moment Richard and Alice picked us up at the airport to the time they dropped us off at the end of our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Their relaxed, friendly approach made us feel immediately at home.
Although the chalet was some way out of town, Richard's flexibilty in transporting us to and from the lifts made the distance seem irrelevant.
You always take a bit of a risk booking places at the last minute from the internet but this time we found a real gem.
I would recommend it to anyone and would imagine that a summer break in Chalet Maitreya would be equally enjoyable."
