Chalet la Maitreya
Architecturally, the style has not progressed much beyond the traditional Oisans style, but catered Chalet La Maitreya has got a decor that seems spontaneous and ingenious.
Guests have dinner together at a huge table in the 500 years old converted cellar and the rooms range from a simple but stylish old farmers room to the spacious, old timber and wood-panelled top floor room. They are all different, but the thing they have in common is a natural, unforced charm and the cosiness of a highly individual place.
The chalet offers 8 en-suite bedrooms (sleeps up to 20 people in style and comfort), spacious dining room with bordering sunblessed terrace, a nicely decorated living room with open fire place, sauna facilities, separate tv room. Being one of the oldest ski chalets of Vaujany, catered ski Chalet La Maitreya has got a stunning view of the valley leading to the slopes of Alpe d'Huez- the gateway to one of the largest linked ski area in France- Alpe d'Huez Grande Domaine Ski.

Food was of a very high standard (canapes and a 3 course meal) and lots of it! Extremely high quality for a chalet holiday, better than most a la carte restaurants you will go to.
Very well looked after by our hosts Alice and Richard.
Spacious rooms all with private bathroom and even got a bathrobe to use, which was particularly useful for the sauna, which was great after a day on the slopes.
The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it is not an easy walk into the village of Vaujany, so the minibus (available whenever you want it though, driven by Richard) is required, so not ski in ski out.
This Chalet is highly recommended, amazing value!" 13 Oct 12
Stayed over Christmas 2010. A family of three, with a 4 year old. Found the chalet to be great, good hospitality and great food. Everyone was very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. would go back again." 26 Sep 11
Our four night stay at Chalet Maitreya was everything we had hoped for. The exchange of information from the owner at short notice was very helpful, the chalet beautiful, the food excellent and the chalet hosts Richard and Alice incredibly welcoming and helpful.
From the moment Richard and Alice picked us up at the airport to the time they dropped us off at the end of our stay, nothing was too much trouble. Their relaxed, friendly approach made us feel immediately at home.
Although the chalet was some way out of town, Richard's flexibilty in transporting us to and from the lifts made the distance seem irrelevant.
You always take a bit of a risk booking places at the last minute from the internet but this time we found a real gem.
I would recommend it to anyone and would imagine that a summer break in Chalet Maitreya would be equally enjoyable." 26 Sep 11
