Megeve can lay claim to being the first French purpose-built ski resort - although the predominant style of picturesque wooden chalets is very diifferent to the styles used in the more modern French resorts! Originally modelled on St Moritz and built in the 1920's, the charming town soon became a popular meeting place for the rich and famous. Although the jet-set may have moved on, Megeve's charm remains and still attracts a good number of visitors. New building and improvements have been carried out in line with the style and atmosphere of the original village - even the McDonalds is quaint !
