  • Chalet Espen is located close to the main cable car station in Engelberg, with beautiful views all around.  The original chalet building is one of the oldest in Engelberg and very atmospheric.   
  • We normally accommodate up to 14 adult guests, although there are two additional bedrooms for larger groups.  Children are welcome and we are open throughout the year.  We aim to offer a relaxed and friendly environment, with high standards of service at a reasonable price.
  • Engelberg itself is one of Switzerland's oldest mountain resorts, having been founded by Benedictine monks in 1120.  The resort has fantastic winter and summer facilities and English is widely spoken.
  • The skiing in Engelberg is varied and challenging, and the resort has an excellent snow record.  Engelberg is especially famed for its accessible and extensive off-piste. 
  • Engelberg's location in the centre of Switzerland makes it easily accessible from both Zurich and Basel airports, which are served by BA, Swiss and Easyjet.   You can even even travel to Engelberg by train from Zurich airport.  The resort is also an excellent base for exploring further afield, not least the beautiful lake-side city of Lucerne which is nearby.




Accommodation:

  • Beautiful and characterful chalet building with lots of space
  • Six double bedrooms with modern en-suite bathrooms as well as a further double (with bunks for children) and two single bedrooms with shared bathroom 
  • Two bedrooms have balconies and all rooms are extremely comfortable, light and bright with fabulous mountain views
  • Atmospheric old dining room or "stübli" with low ceiling and murals on the wall
  • Spacious and luxurious lounge with cosy log fire
  • Satellite TV, DVD, CD and ipod system, books and games
  • Large garden and parking area outside, and lots of space for storing skis and bikes 

Services:

  • In the winter season we offer half board accomodation, including breakfast, afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes, and four course evening meal with complimentary wine.  High tea is available for children.
  • In the summer we offer bed and breakfast or half board accommodation.
  • We can advise you on and help you with ski school, ski hire and childcare. 
  • Transfers may be available from Lucerne station or from Zurich and Basel airports for groups of up to 8 people.
  • We run a day trip to Andermatt if a number of our guests would like us to.
