I'm looking to make an early booking for either this Xmas or New Year for 7 days for 8 people (2 x families with 4 teenagers) in a fully catered chalet. Ideally we need 4 rooms and would prefer a location close to slopes and/or ski lifts rather than have to get a taxi or bus.
We do have some flexibility with our dates and can go anytime from 19th Dec and need to be back by 3rd Jan.
Having now spent a bit more time researching resorts and getting advice from friends I have narrowed down our search for high altitude resorts that are suitable for beginners - we've all been a few times but still prefer greens and blues rather than reds and blacks.
Originally I liked the look of Morzine but I feel that its a bit risky due to its lower altitude and I was also looking at Val D but my mate pointed out that it wasn't great for beginners.
The resorts I have narrowed my search to are now as follows:
1. Alpe d'Huez
2. Tignes
3. Val Thorens
4.Les Menuires
5. Courchevel
Finally, we are seeking comfort rather than luxury because we have to work to a budget but hopefully you can help us find a nice place to have a great family holiday.
