  • Chalet Gingembre stands on its own plot of land with south facing views from the balcony toward the spectacular peaks of Val Sulens and Tournette.
  • The chalet is situated in the Manigod Valley, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps. It is a mix of rural farm communities and individual traditional chalets with the village of Manigod at it's heart.
  • The valley is positioned between the small market town of Thones and ski resorts of La Clusaz. Croix Fry and Merdassier. Further away is the medieval town of Annecy.
  • It is just over 1 hours drive from Geneva International Airport and approximately 9 hours drive from the English Channel Ports.

Accommodation:

First Floor:
  • Large lounge area with open wood burning fire and French doors leading to the wrap around balcony. The lounge has two sofas and a CD/MP3/minidisc stereo.
  • Kitchen with traditional wood units housing an oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher and microwave, with good-sized tiled work areas.
  • 3 double bedrooms, 2 have double beds with electric blankets, 1 has a truckel bed that pulls out to make a twin bed. All rooms have independent thermostatically controlled heaters, which are very efficient.
  • Bathroom with a bath and hand-held shower. There is also a separate toilet.
Ground Floor:
  • Large room which serves as a playroom with a DVD/video and TV. This room also doubles as the fourth bedroom, with two truckel beds which convert to four single beds.
  • Second bathroom with a power shower, toilet and basin, a ski-tech/laundry room with a washing machine, and a garage, which is mainly used as wood storage.
  • For entertainment, there is a full size table football machine and a dartboard, lots of board games, jigsaws and books.

Summer

  • In the spring and summer the temperatures soar and the mountains come alive with flowers. There is an extensive network of well maintained walking, horse riding and mountain biking trails, including four dedicated courses in La Clusaz, including two downhills and a four x course. The mountain bikers as well as the walkers can use the ski lifts, which work in the main summer months, to reach the high trails and best views.
  • Other summer pastimes include swimming, with superb outside swimming pools in La Clusaz and Thones. There are also special swimming areas on the banks of Lake Annecy. The lake also offers sailing and motor boat hire. There is also tennis and a spectacular summer luge in La Clusaz. For the slightly less energetic, there is extensive shopping in Annecy.  Good local restaurants abound for all tastes.

Winter

  • In the winter months there is great piste and off-piste skiing and snowboarding for all levels, accessed from Croix Fry, five minutes drive from the chalet. This includes the Croix Fry, Merdassier and La Clusaz resorts
  • At Croix Fry itself there are easy lifts for children and first-timers, incluiding a toddles area for the very young. There is also a very good network of English speaking ski guides.
