Upon arrival we were immediately made welcome and instinctively knew this holiday was going to be amazing.

The chalet itself is stunning, kept to very high standard and absolutely immaculate. The food was outstanding, one hot breakfast dish along with the continental choice every morning, there was a delicious cake waiting for us everyday, and then the children would be fed earlier than the adults which really worked well. The adults food was amazing, the pre dinner canapés and fizz were a delight and each course as stunning as the next.

Coming out of the chalet and getting to the slopes was a breeze thanks to our dedicated driver. He recommended certain runs and helped the children in and out of their ski boots and skis. After a tiring day skiing the driver would arrive punctually helping us get our skis in, loading the children into the car and unloading the other side. This made our holiday run exceptionally smoothly.

To summarise, the service and attention from all staff went beyond our expectations and was most greatly received. They helped to make a truly exceptional holiday experience

Perfect luxury chalet for a week away from the world! Utterly spoilt with fabulous chef, chalet staff, own driver and a sauna every night! Rooms delightful and every need catered for, from home made bath salts, fluffy robes, slippers and afternoon cake! Ski hire and passes delivered to the door made the whole week hassle free. The skiing was fabulous and the chalet was such a lovely place to come home to every night. Chatel is a delightful town and the chef's night off forced us to try its delights. Six adults, nine children, no fights and lots of laughs! The only downside was the required diet once home from all the delicious food. La Grange au Merle by Clarian Chalets 07 Jun 18

Had a great family gathering (7 Adults + 8 Children) staying here for a weeks Skiing

As a very large spacious chalet, it did not feel crowded, combining the luxury of a boutique hotel (with its own DriverHostess& Chef) with the relaxing feeling of a 2nd home. The log fire and the hot tub were great, with an amazing snug bedroom hidden away up in the roof!

We were a very mixed group of beginners right through to off-piste Skiers⛷and Snowboarders, and Chatel had a huge variety of slopes to keep us all entertained. The mountain restaurants were fab, full of character and lovely food.

As a keen hillwalker, it would be interesting to visit in the Summer to see/feel the contrast in the village & mountains.

Would definitely love to come back to this amazing place

A real luxury ski experience for me and my family - first time we have stayed in a catered chalet and we are converts! Fantastic food, delicious and hearty breakfast and a too-inviting afternoon tea awaiting after a day's skiing. La Grange au Merle by Clarian Chalets 10 Sep 17

It was so easy to book this chalet, the owner responds immediately, takes care of the ski hire, ski passes, transfers etc etc. You arrive at the chalet and everything is ready. The standard of chalet is first class, an absolute winner. La Grange au Merle by Clarian Chalets 10 Sep 17

This ski chalet is second to none. Not only is the chalet beautifully refurbished with great facilities but the hosts could not have been better.

I would highly recommend this chalet.

Luxurious cozy chalet with a 4 star chef

We stayed at La Grange au Merle for 6 days over New Year with another couple. We all (including our 7- and 9-year-old children) didn’t want to leave. The location is awesome, close but not too close to the center of Châtel with a magic view of the mountains on the other side of the valley. Picture postcard perfect.

We were really looked after. Upon our arrival skis and boots were fitted in the boot room of the chalet and ski passes had been arranged.

The chalet itself is immaculate. Newly refurbished with lots of lovely touches that make it a warm, cozy home away from home. The owners clearly have an eye for the finer details and know what's required.
The beds are excellent with Egyptian cotton linens that make it so easy to get a great night's sleep. For downtime, there is a jacuzzi outside and a sauna inside, they are wonderful additions that add to the relaxation. In the beautiful living area with a vaulted ceiling is a large dining table for long evening dinners. In an adjoining snug the children played games or watch TV without disturbing the others.

The chef's years at alBulli clearly paid off and the hostess kept us and the chalet in top shape.
It's also so nice that there's an ample supply of tea, coffee, wine and beer to enjoy as you like.

Overall a great place to stay, somewhere we highly recommend and we can't wait to come again.

A very peaceful location, with excellent views from all the rooms and balconies. Very comfortable, with a lovely little bar (a little too nice for some). The ski hire folks came to the chalet and fitted us on-site, and came to collect at the end of the trip. No queueing in ski shops for us, and no lugging the kids equipment around!

The free ski bus stops at the property, and delivers to the Super Chatel lift.
This provides access to the vast Portes de Soleil ski area, with a huge amount of choice available for all levels. We signed our kids up to the British Alpine Ski School for lessons with British instructors in the morning, and then happily spent the afternoon with the kids, easily reaching Morzine, for example. They were particularly keen on "The Stash" with it's jumps and bumps in the woods. They were novices when we arrived, but were confident on some of the black runs by the end of the week.

The runs were surprisingly very quiet, especially considering it was Easter (barring the odd bottleneck here and there) but I'm told this is because most of the big British tour groups don't use Chatel as a base. As a result, the village retains a small town atmosphere and does not feel overrun.
