Auron Ski, Snowboard & Summer Holidays

The ski resort of Auron is situated in the Mercantour area of the Alpes Maritimes department in the Southern Alps region. It is part of the Mercantour national park and shares a joint lift pass with neighbour Isola 2000 across the valley.

The village of Auron built its first ski lift in the middle of the 1930s. It is the biggest ski area in the Alpes-Maritimes. Stephanie of Monaco has an apartment in this resort. The lift system has benefited from considerable investment and there is on-going development today. In the village there is the beautiful St Erige romanesque chapel with frescos dating from 1451.

At a slightly lower altitude (1140m) is the charming village of St Etienne de Tinée

Ski holidays in Auron:

The ski domain of Auron is ideal for off-piste skiing and is a favourite with the freeriders of the Alpes-Maritimes. As well as 8 off piste itineraries routes there is extensive between the trees skiing. There are a number of steep and interesting slopes. Other off-piste can be reached within a short walk.

Four sectors make up the Auron ski domain, which stretches over 135km of pistes. There is also a snowboard park avaialble.

Other popular snow sports are snowshoeing, skidoos and sleigh rides are offered.

Just 90 minutes from the holiday resort of Nice, it is possible to ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon!
