Situated close to the Swiss border, a rustic, Savoyard village which still retains traditional charm and atmosphere, and set in the heart of one of the largest ski areas in the world - the Portes du Soleil.
Châtel is located within the main Portes du Soleil circuit and so offers a great deal of skiing and boarding. It's own local slopes are also well worth investigating. It has been developed in recent years but still manages to retain most of its traditional, rustic charm.
Close to Lake Geneva, Châtel is one of those typical Savoyard communities, where you can still buy local cheeses from the farmers who make them. Just a few kilometres away is La Chapelle d'Abondance. A good alpine holiday base. Evian, Yvoire, Annecy, Geneva are all within easy reach.
