In the shadow of Mont Blanc, Les Contamines is a pretty, traditional village with a compact ski area which has an excellent snow record.
The village of Les Contamines-Montjoie nestles at the foot of Mont-Blanc, at an altidude ranging between 1164 and 2890m.
         Numerous summits dominate the village:
To the east: Les Dômes de Miage, 3673m and the Aiguille de Bionnassay, 4052m, are part of the Mont-Blanc range. They are covered in ice throughout the year.
To the west: the ski resort reaches across the hillside of Mont Joly at 2525m joining the Hauteluce ski area via the Col du Joly. The Tête du Veleray marks the summit of the ski slopes. From here there is a spectacular view of Mont-Blanc, the Aravis mountain range and the valley of Beaufort.
To the south: the roman road leads to the Bonhomme mountain pass and towards Italy.
The ski area in les Contamines is situated between 1200m and 2500m altitude and offers various opportunities for different levels of skier/snowboarder. The resort boasts great sunshine and excellent natural snow conditions. Enjoy panoramic views from Mont-Blanc to the Beaufortain region.

The slopes wind down between glens and dales, wide runs, pine forests chalets and old farm buildings. The village nestles at the foot of Mont-Blanc, the higher slopes offering magnificent views, the lower areas offering tree-lined skiing.
The resort has also been a regular host for the Skier Cross World Championships.

The resort is part of the “Evasion Mont Blanc” ski area, 445 kms of slopes, 6 resorts in the Mont-Blanc region : Saint-Gervais, Megève, Saint Nicolas de Véroce, Combloux & La Giettaz.
Les Contamines remains unspoilt and little known to the foreign tourist market. There are pretty wooden chalets, an old church and a weekly market in the village square.
Within the territory of Les Contamines-Montjoie, a 5,500 ha area is classified as a “Nature Reserve” to protect it from further development.

Here you can enjoy wonderful alpine scenery; lakes, mountain pastures, cliffs, glaciers, and see a varied fauna and flora, where chamois, ibex and black grouse frolic among the gentians and rhododendrons.Reserves are often the only remaining areas in the region where nature has remained unspoilt by human contact.
As well as hiking, mountain biking, tennis, archery and lots of active things to do, the viallge organises various events over the summer months. It is also well placed to visit other places such as Chamonix, Annecy, Les Aravis.
