Alpbach was officially voted Austria's most beautiful village in 1983, and the local authorities have continued to resist development and purpose built convenience, so that even today it's charm and character have been preserved.
It is small friendly resort at 1000m altitude set on a sunny plateau. Located near the head of a valley, Alpbach looks south across to the Wiedersbergerhorn. It is exceptionally pretty.
