"Comfortable and friendly chalet
Our group of 5 ladies enjoyed a great week at the chalet. It was warm and comfortable, immaculately clean and the food was great. Grace the chalet girl produced lovely breakfasts with good porridge (not always easy to find in chalets) and we came back each afternoon to one of Emma's cakes. Then in no time it was time for Matt's interesting canapes and cocktails before a plentiful and appetising 4 course meal. We really appreciated the lifts to and from the slopes and also to the local restaurants on the chalet days off. The chalet has a real home-from-home feel as it is Matt and Emma's home and we even enjoyed an impromptu singing performance from 2 of their young sons. We can thoroughly recommend this great chalet."

"5 star service
Regular skiers will know the downside of skiing is the walk to and from your accommodation carrying your skis and poles, well not at Chalet Le Dragon, Matt would take us all to whichever area we wanted to go to and then collect us whenever we were ready, all we had to do was text him and he was there, once back at the chalet Emma had homemade cakes and biscuits ready for us and hot drinks."

Good quality service, friendly owners and staff, great food, ample drink and spacious accommodation. All eight of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Matt will ferry you directly to the lifts and Emma's cakes were excellent!"

"“Unbelievable Service and Hospitality”

Skiing can be hard work, even for the most ardent skier. Matt and Emma at Chalet Le Dragon go out of their way, and then some more, to take all the hassle out of it and ensure that your ski holiday is just that - a holiday. They can't do enough for their guests, whether giving lifts, sorting transfers, arranging ski hire, getting ski passes in advance or just giving great advice. But a holiday here is not just about getting that bit extra. The chalet is beautiful, clean and spacious. The meals are fantastic (with wine and beer included) and Emma's cakes are the stuff of Bake-Off.
The village and the whole ski area are special too. This is the perfect place for a skiing holiday."

"Absolutely fantastic chalet in a great location with truly friendly hosts. Would absolutely go again and recommend to all! We were fortunate to have the place to ourselves (5 in group) which made it seem like our own home! Excellent ski hire recommendation and great local knowledge. Matt even acted as informal guide one day!!

Personally 4 courses a night was too much for me but too much good food is not exactly a hardship!!

Would like to be provided with a wider selection of wine (to purchase) but that's just cos I am a wine fan!

Spent an epic length of time in the 'hot tub time machine'!!

Loved it loved it loved it."

"From arrival to departure we were made to feel very welcome. The chalet is immaculately clean and well appointed with stunning views along the valley. Breakfast and optional evening meals are very good. The area is beautiful and offers great opportunities for outdoor activities. Lake Geveva and its many attractions is only 45 minutes away if the weather turns bad. Matt and Emma, thanks for a wonderfull time. I feel a return visit is imminent!" 04 Feb 14

"We stayed in the chalet as a group of two families having scoured the PdS for a chalet that was
1. Luxurious
2. Close to the slopes or willing to schlep us there and back on demand and, most importantly,
3. could fit us in to some very specific dates just after Christmas

Le Dragon fitted all the criteria - we were extremely well looked after both in the chalet and with the local network that Matt and Emma have established that made it all such a breeze, from excellent ski hire guys who come to the chalet to fixing up reservations in the village.

Our friends were mainly novices and a little worried about how it would all work, despite our assurances, so having this support was the difference between heaven and hell.

We loved the views up the valley towards the staggering Dents du Midi, the careful and generous but not over-fussy food (I don't go skiing to have balsamic drizzles on my plate - if I want Michelin, I can get it at home), Emma and Matt's lovely boys mucking in with our kids to play in the snow, extremely good housekeeping (apparently Cleaning Fairies do it all), and the very welcome hot tub.

One thing to be aware of is that the village is a good 10 minute walk down the hill (up on the way back, obviously) and while the Panthiaz lift into the Super Chatel sector is visible from the chalet, you might well prefer a lift to and from it rather than yomping down with your boots and skis.

In the summer, obviously, the lack of ice and snow make this a more attractive option.

As ever, we ask the critical question: Would we go back? Yes."

"This was my first stay with Matt & Emma at Chalet Le Dragon and I will definitely be going back. They were great hosts and they couldn't have done more to ensure my holiday ran smoothly. Matt took us to the slopes and picked us up every day, offering good advice on where to ski. Snow was perfect and the sun shone most days of my holiday. Chalet is beautiful and immaculate. Great views all around. Excellent food. Loved the hot tub under the stars. Best nights sleep in ages in the comfortable bed, Already planning my next visit" 04 Feb 14

"I decided to come back to Chalet Le Dragon in winter after a great summer holiday there last year.
I wasn't disappointed.!!
The snow was great and Chalet Le Dragon as good as ever...Roaring log fire in the lounge after a hard day skiing...superb afternoon cakes and a hearty 4 course evening meal. Loved the local cheeseboard with the Abondance cheese.
My room was spacious with great views across the valley. The chalet is spotlessly clean.
Thanks Matt and Emma once again for a great stay. Already planning to come back this summer for my annual biking trip."

"This is the second time we have spent a week with Matt and Emma in their wonderful Chalet in the Porte du Soleil ski area. From the moment we arrived (using magic transfers) to moment we left we were spoiled rotten. The accommodation is first class, food superb and the place is kept spotlessly clean and tidy. Both Matt and Emma go out of their way to ensure that you have a great Ski holiday, from taking you to and from the slopes when ever you want to spending time showing the best places to Ski. We loved using the hot tub at the end a hard day on the slopes to soothe our aching legs. I would also recommended using SKIHIRE2U, it couldn't be any easier. They arrive shortly after you have settled in bring the latest equipment to Chalet and when you've finished, its collected and paid for. In all a truly wonderful experience." 04 Feb 14

"This was my 3rd visit to Chalet Le Dragon for a long weekend of skiing. The chalet is well located for all of the lift stations and Matt is on-hand each morning to advise the best lifts to be dropped at. The Chalet is well appointed and feels well cared for and loved by Matt & Emma.
Afternoon tea is a real treat with freshly made cakes and vin chaud every other day.
Dinner is 4 courses – plentiful and well cooked. The cheese board changes every day and the local cheeses are superb – try Abondance!
I had the double room with a balcony. Well worth it for the views up and down the valley – lovely if there is a firework display at Cret Beni!!
The village is 10 minutes walk and has plenty of restaurants and bars. I had dinner one night at the Fer Rouge. They make their own beer and have a really nice modern restaurant upstairs.
Will be back next year. Thanks Matt & Emma!!"

"Spacious and very nicely furnished accommodation with most attentive hosts that i have met in any catered holiday. Matt drove us to the ski lifts and picked us up and arranged all the gear. As for the food I will now have to diet for a month." 04 Feb 14

"Very friendly hosts and nicely arranged chalet. Afternoon cake became a hot topic (my favourite was still the Victoria Sponge!).

Very attentive, Matt arranged new boots overnight for me when my own had broken, he also drove us to the lifts and picked us up in the evening. He also dropped as to the pub after there superb and plentiful suppers."

I have sent a review to trip advisor. I am sure the others will or have done so already. I hope the rest of the season goes well and hope very much we will see you next year.

"We have just got back from a superb week at Chalet Le Dragon and I can honestly say it was the best ski holiday that we have ever had.

From the first enquiry, having never been to this area of France before, Matt and Emma were really helpful and friendly. The private transfers(arranged by Matt and Emma) made an easy start and end to the holiday, as did the pre-booked ski hire and lift passes.

The chalet is in a stunning location with beautiful views and the rooms are all gorgeous.

The skiing was the best we have ever had, perfect conditions and being taken to each area by Matt, and picked up again at the end of the day felt like pure luxury ( no clomping up the street in ski boots and waiting for overcrowded ski buses )!

Meals were all lovely and just the right type of food after a hard days skiing and if you like cake then you will be in heaven! Emma makes the most delicious cakes that are waiting when you get in from the slopes.

Thank you all so much."

"For anyone wanting to travel to a first class chalet, in a peaceful area with a great resort service provided by the owners, then look no further.

Excellent cakes provided by Emma (more than you could eat) and a superb in resort transport service provided by Matt. Wherever we wanted to be dropped off to, or picked up from was not a problem for Matt-he even offered to drive over one hour to pick us up from Champoussin, when lift closure nearly left us entirely stranded.

The Chalet is very comfortable, and spotlessly clean, with a lovely jacuzzi to ease those aching thighs.

Thanks for a great week."

"Chalet le Dragon stood out even amongst the many replies to our enquiry on the very useful Chalet Direct Forum . Matt got back to us immediately with prices and essential information on which to make our choices for our 4 day, late minute holiday. We certainly made the right choice: Faced with obstacles from the start ( transfer company couldn't come and get us, blizzard conditions and a 3 hour flight delay on our already very late flight), Matt was at the airport in the early hours to save the day. Every review I had read suggested that nothing was too much trouble for Matt and Emma. We found even putting on snow chains at 2 am to get us to the property in unusual conditions while organising ski passes, kit delivery and breakfast 5 hours later was all part of the service.
We knew the area was superb but the effortless slope transfers to anyone of 3 close lift stations was easier than any "walk to lift" properties and indeed many "ski-in -ski-outs" I have encountered.
We joined a group of lovely, friendly folk that we'd never met before, half way through their own holiday. They were just as welcoming as the chalet hosts themselves - we had initially assumed a hotel would be the way to go- but ended up skiing with and hugely enjoying the company of our fellow guests."

The chalet is perfect and the skiing amazing! Thank you all so much!

Room Tip: All the rooms are peaceful - fantastic night sleep! "

"Chalet Le Dragon review:

Just returned from spending a week at Chalet le Dragon over Christmas 2012 with our family of 4. Everything was “SUPERB” from Matt and Emma’s cooking, hosting and advice through to the amazing expanse of pistes in the ski region (will suit both beginners and the most daring of skiers).

Afternoon cakes/drinks following skiing was really nice followed by lazy early evenings in the hot tub that was welcomed by all!

If you’re looking for a top skiing destination, comfortable surroundings, fantastic chalet hosts, excellent food, wine and cheese to die for (we bought loads from the Fruitiere in the village to take back with us) then you are not going to be disappointed if you book to stay at the Chalet le Dragon !

Stayed December 2012, travelled with family.

"We were in need of a place to chill out and relax as we arrived shattered (so not that sensible choosing a ski break?!) and we were immediately relaxed on arrival at Matt and Emma`s lovely chalet. Our room was lovely - massive bed and huge bathroom with a bath to match to soak away the aches of skiing. The chalet is in a great location a short walk form the centre of the village which itself is very pretty with a good selection of restaurants. From the moment we arrived everything was perfectly organised to ensure a swift transfer to the slopes to maximise skiing time- we had been there all of 10 minutes (after a very hassle free transfer) and the ski hire company canme to deck us out, half an hour later we were on the slopes! Every day after getting back tired we were treated to one of Emma`s delicious cakes, and dinner was very tasty and plentiful.
The skiing was superb with several great areas all linking together and we enjoyed skiing in different locations most days. All in all we had a great break and Emma and Matt were fantastic hosts and immensely helpful at all times. We highly recommend staying with them.

Room Tip: the room with the massive bath!!"
