Hochkoenig - Ski, Snowboard & Summer Holidays
The picturesque Austrian villages of Maria Alm, Hintermoos, Hinterthal, Dienten and Mühlbach combine to provide a sizeable ski area, known as the Hochkönig, on a par, in terms of area with much better known Kitzbuhel. The area is named after the spectacular mountain that overlooks it and offers a wonderful choice of activities for winter or summer holidays.
The area has 150kms of piste, and although not all linked, there is a good bus service linking the various areas. Maria Alm is one of the largest villages, and has the main tourist office. It is a charming, typically Austrian-style place, with a lovely old church and pretty chalets.
The Hochkönig is also covered by the Ski Amade lift pass - which opens up an enormous ski area for visitors. Zell am See and Kaprun area also within easy driving distance.
