What a wonderful 2 weeks skiing we had over Christmas and New Year, travelling as two families with four teenagers (13 to 17). We took the ‘snow train’ right in to Bourg and I would recommend this to anyone staying at Chalet Mathilde – it was so easy. We got lucky both with the snow and near perfect blue skies and sunshine weather. But what really made the holiday was the chalet and our wonderful hosts Ben and Maddison (and their ‘assistant’ Elodie). The chalet is lovely, spacious bedrooms with 4 excellent bathrooms and, importantly for us, great communal space, a large dining table, lounge area and a mezzanine TV area. The food was both gorgeous and plentiful – Maddison really does have the art of cake baking nailed! And the skiing was fab. As promised, Ben was more than happy to drop us off and pick us up at a different resort every day. We never walked more than a few steps in our ski boots the entire fortnight! Sainte Foy, La Rosiere, Tignes, Les Arcs we skied them all. Thank you Ben and Maddison for a wonderful holiday, we really hope to be back soon!"

It would be impossible to give this holiday any less than 10 out of 10. Ben and Maddison are the perfect hosts. The chalet is a very generous size, beautifully homely and was thoughtfully decorated for Christmas which all made us feel very festive. We were 2 families of 4 (4 adults and 4 teenagers) and the accommodation worked brilliantly. We stayed for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year and couldn’t have been happier. If you have concerns about the fact that the chalet is not located in an actual ‘resort’ then you really mustn’t as Ben is extremely generous with his time and always takes and collects you to whichever resort you want to go to that day. This flexibility allows you to make your holiday completely ‘tailor made’ to your requirements. The chalet is brilliantly located near several stunning ski resorts (Tignes, Les Arcs, Sainte-Foy, La Rosière, La Thuile) and Ben happily shuttled our group to these various resorts throughout our stay, with the added benefit of being dropped and collected literally at your chosen chair lift. (I don’t think we will ever want to walk with our skies again having had this luxury service for 2 weeks). We stayed at Chalet Mathilde on a catered basis and were presented with delicious menus on a daily basis, as well as a freshly baked cake every afternoon which were truly outstanding. All in all we had an absolutely wonderful 2 weeks at Chalet Mathilde and can’t wait to return. Can’t recommend highly enough."

Fabulous Stay in the Haute-Tarentaise/Sainte Foy

Two families (4 adults, 6 kids aged 4-10) stayed on a catered basis for a week's skiing. The chalet is very well located, 15 minutes' drive from Sainte Foy station and Villaroger for Les Arcs, as well as being 10 minutes from Bourg Saint Maurice for supermarkets etc. Madison and Ben looked after us incredibly well. Don't be afraid of staying out of the resort - the pick up/drop off arrangements were very smooth and it was never a problem to collect us (or some of us) when we were ready to return to the chalet. In fact, taking out an 'early group' to ski school and leaving the rest in the chalet to have a more leisurely start to the day suited us well. Sainte Foy itself was perfect for a week's skiing for intermediates and great for two little learners. When the snow was good, we had some amazing off piste skiing which was accessible even for kids and the uninitiated. The Chalet itself comfortably accommodated us all. Good sized rooms, a nice mezzanine for the kids, clean throughout and warm. Really can't fault it at all. The food provided was delicious and Madison did a great job of catering for the kids. We would certainly return."

Best Holiday Ever!

On leaving my 12 year old daughter turned to me and said it was the best holiday she had ever had and I think I would agree! From start to finish Ben and Maddison could not do enough for us from keeping 6 children happily fed everyday to providing high class dinner with quality wine for the adults. The whole atmosphere was so relaxed it felt like you were staying with good friends rather than 'hosts'. We skied in Sainte Foy which even though it's small is perfect for children of different abilities to hone their skills, but because of Chalet Mathilde's ideal position Ben is happy to drive you to a great choice of different resorts. The chalet is extremely well presented and was lovely to come back to after a long days skiing. Ben and Maddison went out of their way to make us feel at home and we would highly recommend them and their chalet to anyone looking for a great ski holiday."

Brilliant Chalet for skiing Sainte Foy Tarentaise

"For a young family this was the perfect accommodation with the perfect hosts for skiing in Sainte-Foy Tarentaise. Ben & Maddison were brilliant hosts and the morning minibus ride right up to the ski class meeting point in the morning was, to be honest, better than being in resort. Nothing was too much trouble, including getting the children fed early on a few nights and taking some of the group onward to Les Arcs after a Sainte-Foy drop-off. The chalet is very well appointed, modern, clean and well maintained. The bathrooms in particular are of a very high standard. The food was superb, as were the house wines. Relaxing in front of the wood burner after dinner was lovely. Always enjoyed breakfast with a great cooked option which we always took advantage of. Brilliant hosts and the smart option if you're not worried about being in resort or you want to experience Les Arcs, Tignes, Sainte-Foy and even Les Rossieres all in one skiing holiday!""

Fantastic stay in Alpine Vista

Brilliant stay in Chalet Mathilde. The chalet is in a perfect location to choose between the 6-7 local ski areas, which was perfect for us as some resorts shut during the week due to heavy snow and Ben and Maddison were extremely accommodating driving us to and from the different resorts when we wanted. The chalet itself had everything we needed, great food, delicious cakes after skiing, and comfortable and warm. Ben and Maddison were fantastic hosts - would thoroughly recommend to others!"

Beautiful chalet with very accommodating hosts!

We were slightly apprehensive about not actually being in a ski resort but Ben and Maddison were so accommodating and relaxed with their hosting that our trips too and from the slopes were painless. Excellent food, in particular cakes and a informal yet professional style from our hosts meant we had a fabulous stay. I thorough recommend the Chalet Malithde experience to everyone."

Christmas holiday in Ben and Maddison's Chalet!

Many thanks Ben & Maddison for hosting us with our family in your beautiful chalet. We really enjoy our stay, with all your little attention, such as the Christmas tree, la bûche de noël, chimneyfire.. when we arrived. The Chalet location is just perfect, we were less than 25 mins driving from the ski resort Tignes, Val d'Isère and Les Arcs. The Chalet is really spacious (actually more spacious than we were expected), There is 4 large bathroom and a balcony in the master bedroom at the 1st floor. Ben and Maddison were very helpful from all our questions prior to our arrival until the end and even after we left, as we forgot a necklace and they posted it to us. This will remain a memorable week for all our family thanks to this unique host. We look forward to be back soon "

An amazing holiday, really comfortable chalet and great hosts. Nothing too much trouble.

We had a fabulous 11 night stay at chalet Mathilde. The chalet has 5 good size bedrooms, with comfortable beds and luxury bath or shower rooms. The lounge dinning area is very nicely furnished and is the perfect size, the kids also enjoyed the TV snug on the mezzanine. There a table tennis in the garage and we enjoyed several sunny evenings on the delightful garden patio.

Our stay was made very special by the relaxed but attentive hospitality of Ben and Madison. The food was delicious; personalised breakfasts, the most amazing cakes for afternoon tea and so many lovely 3 course dinners, each day giving us another "favourite dish'. Ben and Madison are very hospitable and accommodating. All our diatary requirements and meal time requests were catered for perfectly with no fuss. We also took advantage of Madisons excellent massage service.

The chalet is in a great location for both winter and summer sports. During our spring sking holiday we really enjoyed skiing in 4 different local ski resorts, all reached in comfort within 30mins, (the closest only 10mins) courtersy of the extremely flexible minibus service offered by Ben.

Overall we had a great holiday and are so pleased with it we are booking again for next year!"

Choice of Resorts

Eight of us had a great week based at Chalet Mathilde skiing the various ski resorts with easy access from the chalet. This was not the first time that several of us had stayed at this chalet, in fact it was the third time for three of us. We wouldn't have returned if we hadn't been satisfied before! The chalet is very comfortable, the food is excellent and the shuttle service to and from skiing works like a dream. Ben and Maddison are such good hosts."

Full cooked breakfast, tea time cake/biscuits and a three course evening meal with choices of quality wine. Chalet is comfortable and warm, especially with log fire on in the evening. Chalet ideally situated to easily access multi ski areas."

Ben and Maddison are the perfect hosts, they made us feel very welcome on our first skiing experience. They guided us from the start with ski hire and lessons and advised us about the different ski resorts in the area. Chalet Mathilde is lovely and we went with the catered option. The meals were great and we came home to cake and coffee every evening and a chat about our day. Ben drove us to the ski resort daily and picked us when we were finished and they were always accommodating. The log burner kept the chalet cosy and warm and was always made up ready to go when we returned from the slopes. We would definitely recommend staying at Chalet Mathilde, Ben and Maddison made our first skiing trip a holiday to remember."

We have just returned from another fab week at Alpine Vista. Nothing was too much trouble for Ben and Maddison and the freshly prepared breakfast and evening meals fantastic. The chalet is fab for 8-10 people and there is always plenty of hot water!! The chalet is perfect is you want to ski a number of the best resorts (all less than 30 mins away) during your week in the French Alps. Ben drove us to Les Arcs, Tignes, St Foy and La Rosiere (didn't manage to fit in Val d-Isere) and he was there at the end of the day to take us home to late afternoon homemade cake and fresh coffee. A fantastic week again. Thanks Ben & Maddison."

Best Christmas Ever!

Just returned from the best Christmas ever. From the moment we arrived Ben and Maddison made us feel incredibly welcome. The chalet was clean, warm and cosy with a log burner which Ben set up every day ready to light. The four bathrooms and six toilets were all very clean and modern. The beds very comfy with bright white linen. In our opinion the chalet was 5* and nothing was too much trouble. The food was simply amazing and all freshly prepared. Ben and Maddison would check with us every morning to make sure everyone was catered for. They were very flexible about dinner times and if we wanted to feed the children separately that was fine. Christmas dinner was one we'll never forget, a fantastic traditional feast....
.... Everyday when we returned from the slopes a delicious homemade cake would be waiting for us. The logistics worked perfectly with Ben dropping us at the funicular every morning and he was always there waiting for us when we had finished for the day. The location of the chalet gives you so many options for skiing even if there isn't much snow! Les Arcs 2000, 1950, 1800, Tignes and Sainte Foy so not being in the middle of a resort is a great benefit and also means we never had to trudge more than 20 yards with tired kids and armfuls of skis. Ben and Maddison are lovely people who made us all feel so welcome. They were attentive and discrete, by the end of the week we were all very fond of them, especially the children. We would book again without hesitation."

(Left on Apr 4, 2016 for a stay in Mar 2016)
This is the second year in a row we've stayed with Ben & Maddison, the two hosts who do a fantastic job at looking after us. Perfect location for Les Arcs and really comfortable chalet with plenty of room to relax and entertain. Great food each day, lovely atmosphere about the place, and even on their day off they take you into Bourg in the morning so you can get to the slopes and pick you up in the afternoon. Both Ben and Maddison made us feel really welcome and joined in with the kids, I can't recommend this chalet highly enough."

"We have just returned from a fabulous half term break staying at Chalet Mathilde. Whilst obviously not a ski in ski out chalet each of Les Arcs, St Foye and Rosiere is only a 10 minute drive away and we were able to pick our ski location depending on the weather and our expectations of the queues (and Ben's advice on how to avoid them, which was invaluable). It was great to enjoy all 3 resorts in just a week, which we would never have done had we been located in one of them. Ben's drop off and collect service made the whole process painless. The chalet was immaculately clean and tidy and very comfortable. Ben and Maddison were great hosts (nothing was too much trouble) and they produced some wonderful breakfasts, cakes and evening meals." 08 Mar 15

"We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Chalet Mathilde (Alpine Vista) this New Year – all thanks to the fabulous hospitality provided by Ben and Maddison. The chalet is one of the best we have stayed in in terms of comfort and quality and is located only 10 minutes from Bourg St Maurice Train Station. We were lucky enough to have plenty of snow and skied 6 resorts all located within 10-25 minutes of the chalet (Les Arcs, Val D-Isere, Ste Foy, La Rosiere and even crossed the border into Italy!) over the 6 days thanks to the minibus service provided by Ben. A fab holiday and we wouldn’t hesitate in recommended it to anyone looking a fully catered chalet in a beautiful part of France. Thanks again Ben and Maddison." 07 Jan 15

Return Visit

"We decided to return to Chalet Mathilde as we enjoyed our first visit so much. The standards are just as high as they were when the chalet first opened for business.
The location of the chalet really paid dividends because of the lack of snow in some resorts during the week before Christmas. Instead of being stuck somewhere with limited skiing we were able to enjoy the best skiing in the region within 25 minutes drive in the Chalet minibus.
The food was really good with much thought and care given to preparation and presentation. Well done Maddison and Ben! Keep it up!"

Perfect ski holiday

"Returned home last night from a brilliant week at Chalet Mathilde. 8 friends in our twenties were looking for an opportunity to ski numerous resorts in one week with minimal effort. The chalet host dropped us on the doorstep of the resorts each morning and collected us at a time to suit us - in the end we opted for Les Arcs, Sainte Foy, La Rosiere and La Thuile. Ben and Maddison were perfect hosts and couldn't have been more helpful and flexible to accommodate us, not to mention the superb quality of the 3 course dinner each night... One day back in England and we are already looking into booking a cycling holiday for the summer! Couldn't recommend highly enough." Josh L 11 Mar 14

"We spent a lovely week at Chalet Mathilde the week before Xmas. A party of seven, some novice, some experienced skiers. We arrived in two groups on consecutive days late in the evening, on both occasions and were welcomed with a lovely hot supper. The food over the whole week was excellent, the lemon drizzle cake was my particular favourite. Ben and Maddison, our hosts, were very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. Ben was very helpful giving advice to the novice and experienced skiers alike as to where best to ski, he also booked a table for us at a local restaurant, took us and picked us up, brilliant night! The chalet is lovely, we couldn't fault it. We would definitely recommend it and will be back." 22 Jan 14

Great summer hiking holiday in luxury Chalet.

"My family and I stayed in Chalet Mathilde in late August. The Chalet is in a great location for summer activities and we enjoyed plently of hikes and rafting too. So amaxing how high you can drive to. Bourg is a lovely French town, with some great restaurants and shops to wander round. Ben has good local knowledge too and hepled us with our plans which we were very grateful for as came a little unprepared.

With the great weather we took full advantage of the BBQ and balcony area. There is plently of modern, clean kitchenware and crockery for all 10 of us without having to worry about washing straight. Overall the chalet is kept to a very high standard and is very well equipped and I would recommend to friends and family. We had a fantastic holiday and we are all looking forward to visiting again soon."

"Our family of eight people stayed in this beautifully renovated chalet in the summer, and had a great time. During the summer, we had to cater for ourselves, and the kitchen was fully equipped for all our needs. There are two supermarkets in Bourg St. Maurice, within a short distance drive. The owners, Jackie and Andy, were very helpful, and even located for us an open pharmacy on a Sunday afternoon, when they heard that one of us was not feeling well. The Chalet is conveniently located on road D902. It saved us time traveling to various hiking destinations in the area. We’ve been mostly to the Vanoise national park, but also made a day trip to Courmayeur, Italy, and took the cable car to the Mont Blanc, and had fun playing in the snow in the middle of the summer. The chalet was very spacious and nicely decorated, and the many bedrooms and bathrooms made it very comfortable for a big family. We enjoyed the balconies, as well as the table-tennis. There was a separate hall for watching video, a library and games. We’d like to come back again, and definitely recommend it to our friends." 24 Aug 13

Good Location

"Myself and 7 family members recently spent a week in this great chalet. The location was perfect and offered the opportunity to ski in several different resorts ( we chose Ste Foy station and Les Arcs). A short drive in the morning and we were at the chair-lifts and ready to start the day. Being mid-April, we were lucky enough to have some lovely weather, so took the opportunity of a few hikes up into the mountains, straight from the chalet door. The views were spectacular as expected. An excellent time of year to visit!

Overall this is an excellent chalet for people looking to explore the Alps, and a refreshing change from the usual resort-based holidays."

Very warm welcome

"I was one of the first nine people to use this chalet after its total refurbishment and can really recommend it for anyone looking for really good accommodation with excellent cooking and a good friendly welcome. Don't be put off by the distance to Bourg as the availability of the minibus ensures there is no problem in getting directly to the various lifts without the often usual trudge!

Cosy Chalet

"We were a group of nine adults and the first guests to stay in this chalet. The chalet was really lovely. Tastefully decorated and furnished. Very welcoming after a day on the slopes with cakes and a log fire to come home to. The food and wine was excellent. The hosts Ben and Isaac looked after us very well transporting us to the funicular every morning and meeting us for the return in the evening.
The chalet is in the valley overlooking the river about 10 minutes drive from Bourg St Maurice and within easy reach of several large ski areas including Les Arcs. We were up on the slopes first thing without any walking or queuing after a super breakfast. I would recommend this chalet to anyone with the exception of those looking for a resort location."
