Røldal

Røldal Ski, Snowboard & Summer Holidays

You are almost certain to find deep snow in the winter in Røldal, as well as some of Norway's best off-piste skiing in steep and rocky terrain. The small village in the municipality of Odda in Hordaland county has been voted the best free skiing resort in Norway by the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Næringsliv.

Røldal ski resort is located in Western Norway, approximately a three hour drive from Stavanger, the closest city.

Røldal is more rustic, the lifts run in most conditions and 50cm fresh powder over night is not unusual. During the week, this is not a party destination, however at the weekends the apres ski (or 'after ski' as they say in Norway) with the locals is something not to be missed!

Røldal is an internationally know free ride destination, and even riders such as Seth Morrison have been here filming taking advantage of the fresh powder conditions. Since 2001, the Røldal Free Ride Challenge, a qualifying event for the free ride world tour, has taken place here every year. In 2012 Røldal was chosen as one of the main principal areas for this world wide free ride competition tour.

But you don’t have to be an expert or an adventurous skier to enjoy the facilities at Røldal. The season for cross-country skiing is equally long, while Røldal ski center is a safe environment with a dedicated lift for children and beginners.
