"Sean and Julia made us feel very welcome and the evening meal on our first night set the standard for a week of delicious home cooking....Perfect for two vegetarians. On the drive back to the chalet each afternoon the conversation would naturally turn to what will the cake be today and how much we were looking forward to dinner. The chalet was just perfect being very warm, spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be returning!" 11 Feb 20

"If you are looking for a luxury, cosy, family orientated catered ski chalet then honestly you need to look no further. This is my second stay with Sean at Sixt Alpine Chalet and I am certain it won't be the last. This time we took 10 of my family, many who have never skied before and this chalet offered us a real home from home. It is even nicer in real life than the photos - it is luxurious, clean, homely and just an absolutely blissful place to stay. Sean and Julia are incredible hosts - nothing is too much and they think ahead all the time. Honestly you will not find a nicer place to stay. If I could rate higher than Excellent I would. Please, do you and your family a favour and book this chalet, it'll be the best holiday you ever take." 11 Feb 20

"We visited the Sixt Alpine Chalet at the end of January for a week. We had an amazing time mainly due to the kind hospitality shown by Sean & Julia, they made sure everything ran seemly from the transfers to daily pack-ups! The food was amazing with such a great variety and to die for delicious cakes!!! The Chalet is stunning, warm and very cosy - the hot tub was also a lovely treat after a day on the slopes. We will definitely return and very much recommend!" 11 Feb 20

"I stayed with my daughter for a quick 3 day ski break. Sean and Julia couldn't have been more hospitable and welcoming. The food was great and the views from the chalet are spectacular. Transport to and from the slopes worked like a dream, with no waiting around, and they also had great links to the local ski hire shop. (A tip for future equipment renters - don't pre-book your ski hire as the shop will give you the same discount, without losing their share to the middle man agency - so everyone wins all round.) I now need to go on a diet to work off some of Julia's fabulous cakes ! Highly recommended +++" 11 Feb 20

"Starting with airport pick up, delicious cake welcome, beautifully arranged accommodation, deer in the back yard, collection of passes and ski gear, very tasty 3 course dinners with wine, cosy and spotless bedrooms, hot tub with amazing views.....those are just a few things which spring to mind thinking of mine and my son's short break last week! Sean and Julia's love for the place is very transparent and it certainly rubbed on me - thank you so much. I truly hope I will come back:-))" 11 Feb 20

"From the moment we enquired about booking until the end of our holiday, Sean and Julia couldn’t do enough for us. The pickup was on time and very straightforward. The chalet was lovely with plenty of space for all the guests to relax. The food was great. Highly recommended." 11 Feb 20

"We booked for a short Christmas break, two families with 5 children (mainly young teenagers). Sean was very quick with email responses, answering every question and being very helpful. We were collected at Geneva, from the moment we stepped off the plane Sean and Julia were welcoming, accommodating, friendly, and did everything they could to ensure our Christmas was memorable. Our first day of skiing wasn't the best for the kids, so they took us to a different resort. They loaned us lift passes so we could avoid the queues; helped with ski hire at their local shop, collected us when we'd finished. The food was incredible - a Christmas day feast, and on all other days delicious food for post-skiing. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub with an idyllic view over the village of Sixt, and on our last day took a walk up to the Cirque, with stunning scenery in the mountains. Would we go back? Hell yes, without a doubt. Thank you Sean and Julia, you are a lovely couple and made our Christmas very special." 11 Feb 20

"A fabulous ski break c/o Sean & Julia, who really do offer first class service. It was so great to be chauffeured from/to the airport and to the various nearby resorts each day, taking all the stress and hassle out of skiing.' The chalet is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures and Julia is a tremendous cook even if she doesn't have a Michelin Star yet. The skiing is really good for beginners and intermediates in particular with access to a very varied and large ski area." 11 Feb 20

"Such a beautiful chalet, spacious and comfortable, well equipped and had everything we would / could need. The owners were incredibly accommodating, obviously very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, and were able to answer every question we threw at them with ease! For us, the crowning glory of this property is its situation on the side of the mountain. Spectacular views over the village and valley, sitting in the large garden with sundowners watching the mountains change colour in the sunset - just spectacular. The kids loved it, we loved it. We WILL be back! :-)" 27 Dec 17

"We have been to this Chalet on about 7 occasions, and it is unquestionably the best one we have ever used anywhere in the world.

The food is outstanding.

The rooms are great. The central sitting room is lovely, with a giant fire to come back to every evening.

The owners are fantastic.

Oh and it is very very good value.

We made the mistake of going to a much more expensive Chalet last year, and it was not even half as good."

"This is a hidden gem of a chalet. A wonderful, relaxing lounge with great views, comfy sofas and a roaring fire - the perfect place to relax in after a strenuous day skiing in the Grand Massif. The bedrooms are comfortable, the food is great and the owners could not do more for you.

I know that many people will be put off by its location being 10 minutes drive from the main ski lift at Samoens, but do not let this put you off. Sean (the owner) drives you to the ski lift in the morning and picks you up when you've finished. It's actually easier and quicker than walking (in your ski boots and carrying your skis) to the resort from Samoens town.

The village has a great bar only 100m walk away and the local ski hire shop is great. No queues, helpful and close by.

I have stayed there for a long weekend with mates and as two families, taking all the rooms. Both holidays were great and made by their fabulous, relaxing lounge and brilliant, friendly hosting.

I could not recommend the place more."

"This is our 8th return to this chalet - the owners could not do more for us and are available on site to look after our every need. They always go the extra mile and could not do more.
The food is excellent, the rooms and beds are really comfortable and the main lounge has a lovely communal atmosphere with a large fire and plenty of sofas.

We had stayed at another chalet at New Year (this one was full) and every time we can't get into Sixt Alpine Chalet for a unscheduled break, the other chalets that we stay in only reinforce how good everything at this chalet is."

"We were 3 people . Never been to the area before and we had an extraordinary range of weather . The other gusts were children and 2 experienced skiers . We were picked up and dropped off at will and nothing was too much trouble. If you want a total package from pick up in Geneva and return and easy access to the slopes with a homely and well equipped chalet this is the place. They have many return bookings and I will be another one . One to go for" 27 Dec 17

"We spent 2 amazing weeks in Sixt Alpine Chalet. It was spacious and very comfortable. The garden was fabulous, a large size which was great for the children as well. The views were stunning. The chalet was well equipped, everything needed was available to self cater when we needed to. Each bedroom was a good size, beds very comfortable and all had an en- suite which worked very well. The whole area had lots to offer, kayaking, rafting, via ferrata etc. The walking in the area is very good, scenery amazing.
Thanks to Sean who was very helpful and available to us."

"We stayed for four autumn days and didn't want to leave! The chalet sits on a hill overlooking the village of Sixt Fer a Cheval and commands an excellent view of the surrounding mountains and the valley below. It's an easy drive to numerous day hikes in the Cirque du Fer a Cheval, a park with gorgeous waterfalls and stunning views. It's also just down the road from the more famous Rouget waterfall. After a day hiking, you will want to settle into this cozy chalet with a book, a glass of wine and a fire." 27 Dec 17

"A beautifully charming chalet nestled in the hills of Sixt. Sean and Julia are wonderful hosts providing great hospitality whilst giving their guests space and privacy.
A fabulous minibus service to and from the nearby slopes of the Grand Massif. Delicious cakes and evening meals.
The photos do not do justice to the lovely accommodation provided.
A must for families and groups. A real gem!"

"This is a fantastic chalet, which is owned and run by Sean and Julia, who are the perfect hosts. The chalet itself is huge - massive living room with 3 full size sofas arranged around a fireplace and large (toasty warm) bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. The meals are great, loads of wine and there is an added option of packed lunch which came in really handy on some of the says. Some people may be put off by the fact that this is not a ski in/ski out Chalet but really they shouldn't be. Sean and Julia offer such a flexible drop off/pick up service that it's actually better than ski in/ski out because when your legs are about to give way you will see Sean ready to load your stuff (and you) into the bus! Changes of plan etc are not an issue and Sean was able to accommodate our last minute changes etc. The other thing is that the quality and level of service offered in this chalet will not be matched in a ski in/ski out chalet.
Sixt isn't a party town but it has a great traditional feel and there are a number of restaurants and small bars if you feel like venturing out in the evening. The ski run into Sixt from Flaine is a brilliant way to finish the day and at the end you'll find a bar to welcome you back."

"Just home from a fantastic week in Sixt. The chalet was beautiful, warm and cozy. Sean and Julia were great hosts and Julia's cakes were delicious... Sean provides a lift from the chalet to the lift every morning and evening and also picked us up at the bottom of Cascade a few times... Highly recommended Sixt and Sean and Julia's place." 27 Dec 17

"Just returned from a fantastic week skiing in Grand Massif area. We stayed in Sean and Julia's catered chalet in Sixt. The chalet is very spacious especially the communal areas. It is warm and cosy with a wood burning stove. Sean and Julia went out of their way to look after us all when we were in Sixt. Fantastic meals every night. Highly recommend this chalet to anyone considering it." 27 Dec 17

"We were very well taken care of by our hosts, fabulous meals and yes Julia’s cakes must get a special mention. There is plenty of space and comfort to be able to relax in the evenings and lots of movies, satellite, games, music etc to choose from.

Staying in Sixt and getting to and from the lifts was made super easy and quick for us by Sean it couldn’t be handier. Sixt is a peaceful, unspoilt mountain village, and the elevated location of the chalet offers some truly stunning views.

Even after having visited the Grand Massif area several times before there is still so much more to come back to explore and I would definitely return to Sixt Alpine Chalet."

"This was our first visit to Le Grand Massif so Sixt Alpine Chalet was a new experience. Sean and Julia are the perfect hosts - nothing is too much trouble as Sean will advise, drive, collect and deliver at any time. Clearly an experienced "Grand Massif" man with a great sense of humour and a willingness to serve that is seldom met these days. Julia is a chef "par excellence" - never have we eaten food of this quality in a catered chalet and her cakes should win a global award. The chalet is spotless at all times and beautifully furnished. Our room was superb in every way. A 5 star + chalet at a 3 star price. A truly fantastic place to stay." 27 Dec 17

"We stayed here at the end of 3 weeks travelling around the South of France and wanted somewhere to relax for a few days before heading home.

As someone who has stayed in numerous chalet's over the years (admittedly in winter) I can say in all honesty that L'Aplee is far and away the best I have ever stayed at. The views, the location and most importantly the chalet it's self all added up to a brilliant end to our trip. The location is also brilliant being 10 minute stroll from a village with a couple of restaurants, a bar of 2 and a brilliant boulangerie.

There were a 3 things in particular that made this stay a little more than just plain "good". Firstly the overall standard of the chalet, how it was decorated and how well appointed it was were just a cut above other similar places. Second, the garden was such a nice place to sit and watch the stars in the evening or simply lie and catch the sun during the day. Finally, Sean (the owner) was wonderfully helpful throughout the entire process from booking to arrival and we could not have asked for anything more.

Overall it really is a stunning place, we were blown away by how good it is, I would go back there tomorrow given half a chance!"

"I see all the previous reviews are for the summer. This is a great place for a relaxing time skiing from a catered chalet. The welcome and food served up by Sean and Julia are outstanding, the en-suite rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable and the living area is massive with a wood burning stove, three ample sofas, great views and lots of entertainment gadgets including WiFi internet. We normally drive there for maximum flexibility, but Sean offers lifts to and from the slopes (Sixt, Samoens or Morillon) and good rate transfers from Geneva if required. Sixt is a small, quiet and very picturesque village just a short steep walk down the hill and possessing a few good restaurants to consider on the night off. You can go to Samoens for interesting shopping and night life if that is your thing. We love the ski area both for its variety of accessible off-piste and its fantastic value season pass (break even after two weeks if bought in November). I have tried more than half a dozen other chalets in the Grand Massif, but this remains my first choice." 04 Jan 16

"After a busy Christmas, it was great to get away. This was our first visit to Sixt. A lovely French village with a beautiful river running through it. The chalet was gorgeous. Probably one of the best we've stayed in. The rooms were comfortable and warm. The hot water was constant - even at full capacity when everyone comes in from a cold day skiing. My children were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely food and great service. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. Sean and Julia, thank you so much for looking after us. A great trip." 04 Jan 16

"First skiing holiday with my brother and sister and their families and had a fabulous holiday. Sean & Liam could not do enough for us to make us welcome and look after us the whole time. Always there to take us to the lifts and collect us even when we wanted an early finish. Coming back to a roaring fire and home-made cakes was a real treat and then a delicious 3 course meal meant the waistline suffered a bit!
The skiing was brilliant with Samoens proving the perfect place to learn with a great beginners area. Progression was easy onto harder blues and easier reds and the views from the top are simply stunning. Already booked in for next year!!"

"We have just got back from a Ski weekend in Seans stunning Chalet in Sixt.

It's a short hop from Geneva, so ideal for a short break (although we'd have loved to stay longer!) and Sean knew we wanted to ski as soon as we arrived - he asked the ski shop in Sixt to stay open just for us and then drove us right to the ski lift within minutes, we couldn't have asked for better service.

The great service carried on throughout the break, ranging from pickups from the slopes at the end of the day (its only a 5 minute minibus ride to the lift at Samoens), to excellent service at dinner and breakfast. Everything was made very easy for us throughout the break.

The chalet itself is beautiful, with a great log fire at the centre of a very comfortable and spacious lounge, the beds are comfy and the water is always hot - essential at the end of a days skiing !! Our bedroom was really spacious, and the other rooms looked the same.

The ski area is superb with a great variety of terrain, and Sean is happy to coach anyone in need of a few pointers,

I can't recommend this place highly enough, for us it was very difficult to find anyone who would be flexible with short breaks at this time of year, drop Sean a line and if he can help, he certainly will.

Thanks Sean and Julia (and Sean's Dad!)"

"We had a brilliant week and loved everything about the chalet. Sean and Julia worked so hard to look after us - from the fab food, to the endless lifts to and from the slopes, and even babysitting our5 year old with Down syndrome when he had had enough of the cold! Way beyond the call of duty but very much appreciated. The number of repeat guests at this chalet speaks volumes. We will definitely return." 04 Jan 16

Door to slope service and collection when you are ready makes it all so easy and the chalet is soooo comfortable and cosy that it is difficult to leave! Nothing is too much trouble - the food is fab, plentiful and of a high standard.
We treat the chalet like we are at home and arrive for breakfast in our PJs!
The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, warm and cosy and all en-suite.
The choice of slopes is amazing from Samoens - all the way to Flaine with a number of resorts closer."

"I visited with my husband, Mum, Dad, Sister & her boyfriend in Feb 2014. The Chalet is stunning, great views and plenty of space. It's toasty and warm and well equipped. My Mum is a non-skier and enjoyed sitting in the sunshine (yes, really, in Feb!) or by the fire with a book or DVD. The village is sweet with lots of shops and ski hire was so quick and efficient. The rest of us enjoyed the skiing in Samoens, Morillion and Savigny. Savigny was 2 mins on the free bus and relatively empty, we had our own private chair lift! We had great weather during our stay as well, lucky us! Most of the stay we were self-catered, but the first night we enjoyed food cooked for us in the chalet The food cooked by Sean & his team was superb, so tasty and generous portions. The Chalet is also convenient for the free ski bus stop and has a lovely, big living room for our group. Also, Sean couldn't do enough to help us both during our trip and prior to our trip. Would recommend and really hope to come again!" 04 Jan 16

"We have just spent a wonderful week at this beautiful chalet. The bedrooms are fantastic, the lounge and views from it incredible, the food amazing and Sean and Julia couldn't have looked after us, and our two teenage children, any better. The skiing was wonderful despite being so late in the season and the high runs at Flaine were readily accessible from the gondola at Samoens. Sean dropped us there regularly and there is also a good ski bus service from the village. The view from the garden over the village of Sixt and the mountains beyond is simply breathtaking. We had tea and cake after a hard day skiing sitting there in the sun and it was magical. Sean knows the area so well and was incredibly helpful and accommodating, and nothing was too much trouble for him or Julia. The bedrooms had very comfortable beds and are all en-suite.
We couldn't recommend this chalet more highly and the sight of a Lamagier vulture flying over our heads as we sat on a chair lift was the icing on the cake for us.
We will definitely be back and cant wait for our next visit to the Sixt Alpine chalet and this very special part of the Alps."

"This is a really nice place to stay. Seven of us spent a couple of weeks there in July. It’s a great chalet, very loved, 4 good en-suite bedrooms with comfortable double or twin beds (1 with bunks too) and room to swing cats and hang clothes unlike many chalets. A wonderful huge living/dining room, very cosy, 3 sofas, a big dining table, TV, wifi, games, books, CDs, log fire if you need it (it’s the mountains!) Everything you’ll need in the kitchen, garden with a barbecue and lovely open grass area with great views overlooking the village and valley. Very peaceful, the only sounds are the water in the river on the valley floor and the occasional church bell.
We’ve spent many holidays in the Alps and Sixt is an exceptional place to stay. Very accessible and there’s lots to do in the summer. Walking is fantastic even within a few miles so no need for big trips, and there are lots of local lifts to take you (and bikes) higher if you prefer. In July there’s still a fair amount of snow on the mountain tops and northern slopes so it’s very pretty and the local mountains go over 3000m so the scenery is spectacular. Cycling on or off road is good with a Tour de France climb nearby for the energetic, there's white water rafting for all ages on the river just a few minutes walk away, great climbing – there’s a safe via ferrata just down the road if you fancy a climbing ‘taster’ – parascending if you feel adventurous, mini-golf if you don’t.
The owner Sean is really helpful and the chalet is extremely well looked after. We can’t recommend it enough."

"I have stayed in many chalets over many years and this one really is great. It's in a beautiful location overlooking the small village of Sixt. Do not be put off by the fact there is a short minibus transfer to a ski lift each morning/afternoon. Sean, the owner, is very well organised and will take you right to the entrance of the lift system in Samoen or Sixt at a time to suit you in his own minibus. Its literally door to door and worked really well all week. He's flexible at the end of the day too and will pick you up after a few beers if you don't want to head back as soon as the skiing is over.
The chalet is one of the most spacious I have seen. Sean has not squashed as many rooms into the chalet as possible. The result is the most spacious dining/lounge area I have seen in a chalet. It's really comfortable to relax in.
The chalet is staffed by Sean and his family - there are no 'hired in kids' that you often get staffing chalets these days. The result is as you would expect from an owner who has owned & run this chalet for 9 years. Everything is well organised, food is good, wine is plentiful and the chalet very clean indeed. It's so easy for the guests.
If you want to hit the bars after the evening meal and go crazy all night then this is not going to suit you. If you want a very comfortable chalet which is very well run, and like to relax in an evening then I would recommend this place.
A big thankyou to Sean, Julia and Seans Parents for making it a great week."

Oh and it is very very good value.

We made the mistake of going to a much more expensive Chalet last year, and it was not even half as good."

"Dear Sean and Liam

We both would like to thank you for such a remarkable and memorable stay with you over the New Year. We both said it was one of the best holidays we have ever had, the food, service, chalet, location, cleanliness and of course the hosts were amazing, there was nothing we could fault.

We wish you all the very best in the future and hope to see you again next season.

You both should be very proud of what you have achieved. Definitely 5 ***** from us.

If you get this email before the other guests depart, send them our love, I am unfortunately at work writing this email, already feeling depressed. Ian on the other hand is looking forward to his next departure.

Thank you again.

Best Wishes

Lou and Ian xx"

"Dear Sean and Liam,

I have just looked up your wonderful carrot and orange soup recipe and will try to reproduce it for a dinner later this week. It will not be very easy however, to reproduce the wonderfully peaceful and homey atmosphere of your chalet, your perfect looking after us and that good fatigue one feels after a day of great skiing.

I don't think anyone has celebrated a Légion d'Honneur and a birthday with more style, warmth and fun than I did in Sixt last week. Many thanks for such a perfect week and sincere congratulations for having succeeded in organizing an ideal place for holidays. We'll definitely spread the word about you and will return!

Very best regards and bonne continuation!

"Hi Sean and Liam,

Just a quick line to say thanks again for a great holiday. As usual you looked after us extremely well and put up with an awful lot of girly giggles and silliness. But we had a great time....
Karen seems to be on the mend and is popping up to A & E this afternoon for a quick check up.We are hoping that she won't be put off from next years trip.
Loved the skiing with you guys, thanks for coming out with us.
Debs is planning forfeits for '123 pass!' already (oh dear!) so you better get practicing. Personally the wine idea worked for me, but then I don't believe I lost a hand!

Take care and we'll be in touch,

Ruth, Debs, Est, Karen and Claire"

Gordon & I have become facebook fans - can you please post the sledging photos?

Once I have sorted dates for next year I will be in touch for quotes etc.

Bon ski.

"Hi Sean & Liam

Just to say thanks for everything, the chalet is lovely and we all loved the food (The diets start tomorrow !). Thanks for being so flexible with the lifts to and from the ski lift and helping with the gear.

Thanks for coming out with Matt & I and showing us around, certainly challenging for me !

Hope to see you again in the future, we would definately like to return to the chalet and the area.

Kind regards

"Hi guys

Thanks again for a superb week, we not only thoroughly enjoyed the skiing/ snowboarding, but also being made to feel so at home. It enabled us to forget about everything back in the UK.........perfect!
Today was glorious, walking in the up to the waterfall made a real change and it was interesting to see the slopes in Sixt even if they looked a little green. Thank you Liam for taking us up to see the end of the valley, I have always wondered what was around the corner."

"We had a very easy journey home and are all feeling great after the holiday. We have the ski map up on the wall in the boys room and the talk is still of favourite runs in the mountains and favourite food in the chalet! We had such a great time and a lot of it is down to your care and thoughtfulness. Thank you very much.

Hope your week is going smoothly and your latest visitors are having as much fun as we did.

All the very best and looking forward to seeing you both again soon."

"We all enjoyed the week as usual and look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Our plans for next year are a little up in the air at the moment as we have tentatively agreed to go with a group for Christmas, but that group failed to get themselves together for a week away last week….. I’ll be surprised if we don’t see you next year sometime – certainly I think the boys would all like to go back and ski again and can’t contemplate staying anywhere else."
