Les Gets is a great town for families and your wife won't be bored; there is a Christmas market that week and lots of activities in town, only a 2 minute stroll away - I would suggest the chocolate and cheese making courses for example which are free and great fun. She might like to try snow shoe walking to get used to the mountains?
As we are ski in / ski out and next to the bubble lift it will be easy for you all to meet for lunch if you and your son have ski passes and she just buys a pedestrian 12 ride ticket for example.
