Happy New Year everyone!
We’re starting to plan Christmas 2026 early, as we want to make it special but also good value, with budget left for lift passes, lessons, and equipment hire.
I’ll initially be booking for myself and my 14-year-old, with friends and family keen to join once costs and availability are clearer. Because numbers may grow, we’d ideally need the option to book by room, with flexibility to add more later.
Christmas week but can fly from 20th to 23rd.
Large catered chalet or small hotel
Great food (allergy-aware — this is important for us)
Good for snowboarding and skiing
Sauna essential (hot tub a bonus, not a must)
Comfortable communal areas (snug / sofas to relax)
Easy walking access to lifts and village amenities — we’d prefer to avoid buses where possible
Previously stayed with Alpoholics in La Plagne, which we loved — fantastic hosts and food. We’re looking for a similar standard, but ideally more centrally located so we don’t rely on transport to reach slopes or shops. Resorts we know:
La Plagne – Loved it
Morzine – Loved it, but since we skied mostly in Avoriaz, we’d prefer to stay in Avoriaz
Vaujany – OK, but the double gondola journey means we’d rather stay in Alpe d’Huez
Serre Chevalier – Not for us again; limited green runs were open, which affected beginners in our group
We’re realistic about Christmas pricing, but we’re keen to find the best possible value somewhere warm, welcoming, and festive, without paying for unnecessary extras. Early booking and flexibility on room numbers hopefully helps here.
If you run or know of a chalet that might suit, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks very much, and Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
